Acting on his lifelong love of animals, Garry attended and graduated from the Animal Behavior Center of New York as a certified dog trainer in 2002 and founded Dog Trainers of New York, a highly respected dog training organization. His philosophy focused on the concept that "training helped each dog to learn that following directions from its owner results in comfort and safety."
 By learning to follow the rules happily and obediently, social conflicts are reduced and both dog and owner become comfortable with one another at all times. Garry believed that the successful leader-follower bond is based on affection, communication and trust. This was his fundamental objective in every training relationship.
